Procedure of play
The first thing to take place in a game of poker is the placing of the blinds. A blind is made before cards are even dealt so that a contribution is made to the pot. The two players to the left of the dealer place a big blind and a small blind.
Each player is then dealt hole cards that are not seen by the other players. A round of betting then takes place. Players may choose to call, raise or fold their hand.

The part of the poker game involving the dealing of a fourth community card is referred to as 4th street. This is also known as the turn and this is followed by another round of betting.
The dealing of a fifth and final community card in poker is known as the river. This is followed by the last betting round.
At the showdown, all players that remain in the game reveal their cards. The player with the highest ranking poker hand wins the game.
